The 2nd Trailrunning Day was also a complete success – Trailrunning Days will return in 2027!
Following the inaugural Trailrunning Day Wasserfallen in April, the 2nd Trailrunning Day Wasserfallen took place on August 23 under excellent outdoor conditions.
The well-known top runner from our region, Simone Hertenstein of Liestal, accompanied the numerous trail runners with expertise and enthusiasm across the challenging mountain route. The course led from the village square in Reigoldswil to Lauwil, up to the Ramstein ruins, and along the steep ascent to Ulmethöhe and Vogelberg. The first destination was the summit of the Passwang (1,205 m), where participants were treated to magnificent views over the Baselbiet, the Alps, the Vosges, and the Black Forest.
The runners traversed to Chellenchöpfli and Hinteri Egg, the highest point in the Baselbiet (1,169 m). The descent to Waldweide and onward to the cable car mountain station, as well as the finale on the “scooter run” back to the village square and starting point in Reigoldswil, required high levels of concentration and good physical condition on the mostly uneven trail running terrain filled with roots and stones.
Participation in the 2nd Trailrunning Day of the Reigoldswil-Wasserfallen Cable Car Foundation was once again free of charge for all trail runners. Due to the enthusiastic response, it is planned to hold two further Trailrunning Days Wasserfallen in 2027, likely in April and August. The specific dates will be announced in due course on the Region Wasserfallen website.
