Waldweid Cross⁠-⁠Country Skiing Center


The charming little cross-country skiing area at Waldweid offers trails for both classic and skating styles. The Reigoldswil Ski Club operates a cross-country skiing center at Waldweid in the Wasserfallen-Passwang recreational area. The trails are located at an elevation of between 980 and 1,040 meters above sea level. You’ll find both challenging routes for ambitious athletic training and easy loops for leisurely enjoyment or for beginners. All trails are regularly groomed with a modern trail groomer for both classic and freestyle (skating) cross-country skiing techniques.

Cross-Country Ski Trail Network
: The starting point for the trails is at the Waldweid Restaurant or above the upper station of the Reigoldswil-Wasserfallen cable car. Trails are available for both freestyle (skating) and classic-style skiing.

Michi-Vogt Trail (2.5 km): easy to moderate, the standard trail
Panoramic Trail (2.0 km): challenging, with magnificent views of the Alps and the Mittelland

Directions to
: From Reigoldswil (BL), take the modern cable car to Wasserfallen—a 12-minute ride. It’s a 20-minute walk to the groomed cross-country trail. From Waldenburg (BL), drive to Waldweid. Parking is available at the restaurant. Caution: steep road, not plowed; winter equipment is absolutely required.

The Waldweid-Wasserfallen area is characterized by expansive Jura pastures surrounded by pristine beech and spruce forests. The Waldweid is home to a mountain restaurant with a farm and an SAC hut. The area is usually fog-free. To the southeast, there is a stunning view across the Mittelland all the way to the Alps. From the Enzianenfluh, the view stretches northward over the Basel region to the Black Forest and the Vosges.
