Farmer Challenge at Wasserfallen

The team-building event for companies, clubs, and school classes

High above Reigoldswil, in the heart of the Jura Mountains in the Basel region, a competition awaits—one that could have taken place on any farm in days gone by. In the Farmer Challenge, you’ll compete against each other in small groups. With muscle power, a steady hand, and—above all—as a team. This isn’t a run-of-the-mill program—it’s an event your employees, club members, or students will remember for a long time to come.

The journey itself is the first highlight: The panoramic gondola of the Reigoldswil–Wasserfallen cable car takes you from 500 to over 900 meters above sea level in just a few minutes—with views stretching all the way to the Black Forest.

What is the Farmer Challenge?

The Farmer Challenge is a guided obstacle course set in a rustic setting. Your group will be divided into smaller teams, which will complete the various challenges one after another. Our guides explain each station, ensure everyone’s safety, and record all the results. Scoring is based on points, so the challenge requires not only strength and skill but also strategy and teamwork.

Because the disciplines are intentionally accessible, prior athletic experience is hardly a factor. The learner has a real chance against the CEO—and that’s exactly what makes it so appealing.

An Overview of Some Disciplines

• Sawing wood —at the sawhorse, in pairs, working in unison. If you pull against each other, you lose time.
• Horseshoe Toss —the classic farm game: It’s all about aim, not strength.
• Walking the Balance Beam – Balance and Concentration
• Ökomemory – Brainpower Instead of Brawn
• Nailing It —Who Hits the Nail on the Head?
• Additional activities —extra skill-based and team-building tasks that we put together based on group size, age, and weather conditions.

Schedule: Here’s What Your Day Will Look Like

1. Meet at the lower station of the cable car in Reigoldswil.
2. Gondola ride up to Wasserfallen
3. Walk to the Hintere Wasserfallen Mountain Inn (10′)
4. Welcome and team assignments by your guides.
5. Farmer Challenge: The teams rotate through the stations; the activity lasts about 2 to 2.5 hours
6. Awards ceremony with small prizes from the region for the winning teams.
7. A scooter ride or a gondola ride back down to the valley—the exhilarating finale.

Upon request, we can add meals at a mountain inn, a guided hike, or a museum tour to the itinerary.

Who is the Farmer’s Challenge for?

Corporate and Team Events
A team event in the Basel area that doesn’t require a flip chart. The challenges require coordination, role assignment, and mutual support. Team building that doesn’t feel like team building. Ideal as a half-day program for company outings, department events, or as an active part of your company outing from the Basel, Liestal, and Solothurn regions.

Whether as a school field trip or an activity during a class camp, the Farmer Challenge above all fosters class spirit. The stations reward skill rather than speed. The winners aren’t the fastest, but the teams that communicate and look out for one another. Children who rarely take center stage in physical education suddenly shine here on the sawhorse. What remains isn’t the score, but the camaraderie, the trust, and the fun memories.
