A Successful Start to the Wasserfallen Trail Running Day

On April 19, the Reigoldswil-Wasserfallen Cable Car (LRW) hosted the “Wasserfallen Trail Running Day” for the first time.

The first Wasserfallen Trail Running Day on April 19, 2026, was a success: More than 20 runners completed the approximately 17-kilometer course with about 700 meters of elevation gain in the Wasserfallen region under good conditions. Due to the positive feedback, a second event is already planned for Sunday, August 23, 2026.

The Wasserfallen region offers sports enthusiasts five varied trail running routes. The hilly Jura landscape is ideal for this sport and boasts a variety of trails as well as impressive views. The guided mountain run in mid-April was a special highlight. Led by experienced runner Simone Hertenstein from Liestal, the route ran from Reigoldswil via Rifenstein Castle, the Waldweide, the Hinteri Egg, and the Chellenchöpfli to the Wasserfallen cable car’s upper station and back to Reigoldswil. Along the way, participants received practical tips and background information on trail running at various locations. The varied route, with its unique views of the Jura peaks and the region’s stunning natural scenery, made the run a truly special experience.

The second Wasserfallen Trail Running Day is scheduled for Sunday, August 23, 2026.

Everyone is cordially invited! You’ll need to be in good physical condition, enjoy running, and wear running clothes appropriate for the weather. More information about registration will be posted on the Wasserfallen region’s website a few weeks in advance.
